Which Netbooks have The Best Warranty?

When you get a new piece of technology you, of course, hope that everything will go the way that it is supposed to go. After all you work hard for your money and spending it on a device that does not work, or does not do the things that it is supposed to do, is not exactly the best use of your cash. That is where a good warranty can come into play. That warranty is a kind of an insurance policy, built into the price of your device, that says that if something goes wrong with your buy, usually within the first year, the company will either fix or replace the device.

At least, that is how it is supposed to be. Not all warranties are as comprehensive as they should be. While no company should be held responsible for your accidental spilling of a 20 ounce diet coke onto your new netbooks keyboard they should be willing to cover the defects in the hardware and their proprietary software during normal use. Figuring out which companies offer this and which do not can be a challenge since all companies make their warranties sound good and use short, obfuscating, sentences to describe the terms until you sit down with the 20-page document in hand. Today, we are going to compare the warranties on some of the more popular netbooks on the market today, in order to help you make an informed decision.

    The Toshiba NB505-N508BL

This laptop has a 1-year limited hardware warranty. It will cover any defects that are related to your hardware, but not your software and only those things that are defects in the making of the device or damaged by its shipping. Any external hardware or added on products need not apply. Open the case and you void this warranty.

    The Acer Aspire One AOD255E-13639

While this company does not make an mention of a warranty in its description one is listed in the packaging but it is extremely limited. Getting it enforced has been difficult, according to consumers who have had the devices for short spans of time, such as a month, have reported that the company charged them for basic repairs, such as case replacement over issues like stripped screws.

    The Dell Inspiron Mini 1018
Dell is a bring spot on this list. They have a fairly comprehensive support center that can be used for home based troubleshooting and if you need to get professional help you can actually talk to a real person. Warranties are usually fairly comprehensive.

    Now you can shop informed.
