5 Favorite Netbooks 2nd Opinion
LaptopMag ran a recent article about their five favorite netbooks. Their favorites match up closely to the netbooks I've been sharing on my blog; however, it's always nice to see a second opinion from another well respected website so I wanted to mention their results on the blog. Here's the list:
They picked this as the best budget netbook and I'm inclined to agree with them based on what I've tried hands on.
The Toshiba NB305 is what I named as the best netbook of CES and LaptopMag later named their Editors choice. I agree this is one of the best netbooks on the market right now.
Acer AO532h $349.00 or $299.00
They opted to go for the $349.00 version, but I don't think the extra $50 is worth it to get slightly improved specs (larger hard drive and 2 extra hours of battery life). I would stick with the $299.00 version
The HP Mini 311 made the list as the graphical powerhouse featuring Nvidia ION at an affordable price. I personally appreciate the Lenovo Ideapad S12 ION over the HP Mini 311; however, it's more expensive.
The HP Mini 5102 was selected as the durable business entry; however, I wouldn't overlook the Lenovo X100e. Also, it looks like they both have some competition on their hands with the new upcoming ASUS Eee PC 1018P if the rumors are true.
In either case, the folks over at LaptopMag share a very similar opinion to my own. There are very few changes I would have made to their list except I'd probably remove the two HP netbooks as soon as Acer releases their Nvidia ION 2 based netbook and if the new ASUS Eee PC 1018P can capture the business market at an affordable price.

Hmm. Somehow the 1001P skipped over my radar. That looks like a really nice piece of kit for the price.
I would take the X100e over everything else in the “business” line because I’m Lenovo fan-boy and damn proud of it. I got a hold of one of those today and as soon as I began using it I instantly thought “yes, this is how a keyboard should feel.” That’s important. I love to fondle me some keyboards.
