New Sony Vaio P Official, Expensive

In the beginning of the netbook race Sony was releasing mobile computing devices and refusing to call them netbooks. Instead they labeled them lifestyle PC's and charged an arm and a leg for them. Then they finally acknowledged that this practice was silly and released their "first netbook" I had the pleasure of reviewing this netbook and thought it was great.

Here we are today and another new not a netbook device has been announced despite it's Intel Atom innards. The new device weighs in at just 1.3 pounds and sporting an 8 inch screen. It does have a fancy accelerometer which allows you to read documents vertically and due to the small size it opts out of using a touchpad instead to The price starts at $799 and that gets you the Intel Atom Z530 processor clocking in at 1.6 GHz. It does however go with an SSD, 2 GB RAM and Windows 7 Professional which are all out of the netbook norm. I guess it all just comes down to whether or not 10 inches is too large to meet your netbook needs.

This model should be available next month and I'll be sure to let you know when it ships.
