Samsung and Google Working on a Chrome Netbook?

The newest rumor in the world of netbooks is about Samsung and Google. They are supposedly teaming up to make a top secret Chrome netbook, which is codenamed "Alex." This netbook, if it comes to market has the potential to be the biggest name to work with Google in netbooks to date. This would give a real shot in the arm to Google OS-based netbooks.

The screen is expected to have a 1280 X 800 pixel display, which would allow it to support HD viewing for streaming web services that allow for HD TV shows, such as Hulu. Since no real word has been given on the size of the machines hard drive, there still exists a chance that an HD download feature could also be supported, a feature which is not usually included on many netbooks. That would certainly make at the media-loving segment of netbook users happy. The screen will most likely be a 10-inch.

Internet access will be provided by both G and Wi-Fi connectivity, which is fairly standard for netbooks of the current generation. There is also a good chance that the system will have wireless access though Bluetooth, which means that it has the potential to work with a variety of Android-based smartphones, which are already on the market.

Currently, no information is available about how much this top secret tablet PC will cost, or when it will be out in the marketplace. Though this is not unusual for any device still in the rumors stage. If one were to guess, based on when most of the other Chrome-based netbooks announced so far are going to be available, then it should come out sometime this year, most probably during the summer months. Users may get a chance to peek at the netbook during the Google I/O event, which takes place on May 10.
