Nvidia ION 2 Official Specs Released
Nvidia has officially announced it's ION 2 specs. It will still be branded as Nvidia ION and numerous netbooks have already been announced that will run on it including the Acer Aspire One 532G (10-inch) and ASUS Eee PC 1201PN (12-inch) which are expected to be the first new ION netbooks to be introduced. In fact, Nvidia states over 30 products utilizing Nvidia ION 2 will be released this summer including netbooks (of course), nettops, all in ones etc. The most exciting news however has to be the 10 hour advertised battery life in a netbook. Say goodbye to the 5 hour or less battery life offered by the HP Mini 311 and Asus Eee PC 1201N
. Here is a screenshot of the specs:
I've included video from Nvidia after the break that shows a great side by side comparison of a standard netbook graphical output when compared to a netbook powered by Nvidia ION 2
I also did a video of Nvidia ION with Adobe Flash 10.1 vs Nvidia ION with Adobe Flash 10.0 a while ago which showed similar and equally impressive results. I'm most excited by the fact that we're finally getting a 10 inch netbook that uses Nvidia ION in the new Acer Aspire One 532G though. What about you?

The key to that battery life is the use of Optimus, Nvidia’s new graphics switching technology which I must admit, despite being an ATI fanboy, is basically the bee’s knees. We can expect these Ion 2 netbooks are going to have battery life very similar to any other netbook except when playing a game or watching a video.
Considering how Optimus works, it will also be interesting to see new ultra-portables with Intel CULV processors and decent Nvidia graphics and 8-10 hours of battery life.
