Intel Pineview chipset shipping out in Q4 of 2009

Intel's new Pineview chipset will be shipping out to netbook manufacturers in Q4 2009 and although this means that we will doubtfully see any netbooks shipping with the new chipset until after the holidays, it is nice to hear that the chipset is making is on track without any delays. For those that have missed our earlier coverage on Intel's new Pineview chipset the resulting benefits can be summed up in three categories:

Better Graphics, Better Battery Life and Thinner Netbooks

The reason for the aforementioned gains can be attributed to the integrated memory controller and graphics processing onto a single chip thereby reducing the overall size and power draw by the chipset. In the past these functions where all handled by separate components on the motherboard, but with Pineview Intel will bring them all onto the same chipset.

We'll have more on this when it develops and of course will do some graphics comparisons between both Nvidia ION powered netbooks and Intel Pineview powered netbooks once they become available. In the mean time feel free to browse our current netbook reviews.
