Google netbooks to be priced competitive
Google first announced their Chrome OS netbooks that we originally covered back in July 2009 and they released source code later in November, but they never indicated what the price might be for these machines releasing later this fall - now we know.
Speaking to Google's CEO Eric Schmidt in a recent fireside chat he stated that the netbooks would be priced around current netbook market prices and should be between $300 - $400. I expected that Google would have to come in at the same price (or less) than Windows 7 powered netbooks to give the software giant a run at the market and so it's nice to see we'll have some more netbook competition for our dollars later this fall. If you want to watch the video you can catch it after the break.
The netbook market is heating up...

I don’t understand how this is at all competitive. Windows 7 netbooks already ship in this price range. Hell, the 1001P has been running for under $300 and it has Windows 7.
Google is great and all, but who is going to buy this at $300+ dollars? There is a reason why companies don’t make Linux netbooks anymore.
I guess the only reason why I take notice is that
Google > > > > > > Linux
And I think they are desperately trying to move people onto their own new platform.
