Default Toshiba nb205 - Overclocking possible?;

Hello to everyone!

I just got my nb205, and it's my first netbook. Figured, now that I have joined the waggon, I might as well begin contributing here.

I love my new nb205. However, since I use a screen reader to read the screen, often times it can slow down and my CPU will start to use a lot of power. (I checked with task manager, my screen reading program uses at least 6-20% CPU depending on tasks being done).

Hence my total visual impairment, I have not been able to mess with the Toshiba's bios, though from the feedback of a few sighted friends, I know that one of the only CPU options in the bios is the "dynamic CPU", which lets you choose between "cpu at low power always" or "dynamic cpu" - obviously I guess the Atom has some throdeling built into it, which is good. From what I've read, there are 3 modes - low mode at 1.20 GHz, high performance at 1.6, and super-high performance at 1.7 GHz. (I think this is in all Atom chipsets)

Obviously the EEpcl utility is only for Asus netbooks, I've tried that and got a "garbage returned from PL" message.

There doesn't seem to be any universal Intel Atom overclocker utility. Does anyone here know of a way to overclock the nb205? I don't want to go for some extreme 2.10 fan-frying overclock, but at least the 1.7 mark would be nice.

I was thinking this might (and should) go into the netbook hacks forum, but then again we're talking about the nb205 in specifics here. It's really upto the moderator - feel free to move the thread if you want. If you do, I'm sorry for posting it here, in advance.

With all due respect-
Tomi

Welcome to the forum.

Netbook Reviews has a overclocking article to read.

A fuller overclocking article is found at Computer World.

I looked in Google but couldn't find anything specific to the NB205.
