Being someone who works for the EPA, I am not very green at all. I am driving an 2009 Honda Civic coupe that is an ultra low emissions vehicle. On top of that, the oven in my house and the grill outside are all powered by propane. My HDTV is Energy Star compliant and so are all of my computers and monitors (except my projector, it isn't). That is about it.
I try to eat organic foods that have been locally grown and stay away from fast food (for the most part). After learning about water resources and how much water it takes to produce a single product, I have been staying away from rice. It takes over 100 gallons of water to produce a 1 lb bag of rice, that isn't very efficient (this is a number that goes into the entire rice making process, not just the growing of it).
The other thing I have done is always use cloth bags when I go to the grocery store. I have also started to use those cleaners that you add water to. I don't know if they are really green but I like to think that they are.
I could be a lot greener. I am still driving around a 1999 Ford Ranger. Not the biggest of trucks but it has a V6 engine, gets about 18 miles to the gallon on the highway, is an extended cab model, and comes with 4 wheel drive. Not the most efficient of vehicles. My other car is a 1998 Ford Escort that is getting about 38 miles to the gallon (average between city and highway). I always check it for its emissions though since it is the car that I use to get around town in.
I was looking into getting solar panels on my roof and a rain collection system but it never rains enough down here and the solar panels were way too expensive (even with a tax break). It is currently monsoon season and this area has seen about 1.5 inches of rain in the past few months. That really isn't enough to justify the extra money in a rain collection system. The solar panels seemed like a good way to reduce the electric bill but they had too high of an initial cost and, after calculating everything out, it would take about 15 years before they started paying for themselves. I just have too many electrical devices (computers, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, TVs, receivers, air conditioner, etc.) that the solar panels would only be able to power about two of them.
So I could be a lot greener but I am not. Right now, things are just more expensive if you want to go green. It reminds me of the time when I was on a diet. Organic foods and things that are healthier for you cost a lot more money than things that aren't organic. I could buy a bushel of Granny Smith apples from Wal-Mart for the same price as 1/4 of a pound of organic Granny Smith apples. You have to spend money to be green and, right now, it is hard spending an extra $1 here, $2 there, etc. That may not sound like much but it adds up over the year.

I get the recycling done. Separate my cans, bottles, plastics, paper. About half of my food is organic. Cold water laundry. Biodigradable paper for the bathroom, water efficient toilet. One moderately efficient car. I keep my electric use under 15 amps but I have several computers to feed.
I thought I was okay until one Northwest flight. A flight attendant fell and we had to land in Alaska for a doctor. We dumped fuel like you would not believe. Apparently a plane can take off heavy but not land heavy. I took a lot of pictures of Alaska with the wing and streaming fuel in the foreground. Talk about a carbon footprint.
I agree about the water collection and solar panels. The carbon impact of earning the money to buy them along with the carbon impact of manufacturing them is hardly offset by them. The number of people in the world is beyond preserve mode. We are all in consume mode.

I won an ipod in school for submitting ideas on greening the campus. I suggested printing accounts that limited prints per day/per student ( I saw one guy printing over 100 pages of nude women one day) , switching out light bulbs and major changes like installing solar panels and proper window systems. Was a cool project to do.
At home I recycle plastics, make use of daylight as much as possible and purchase greener chemicals for cleaning such as simple green etc.
I am also a huge fan of bicycles fo transport and plan on getting a moped if it ever became legal.

I also recycle plastics, aluminum, cardboard, etc., and compost. I make sure to turn off all the lights in rooms that are unoccupied (in offices as well), refrain from buying beef, buy 30% organic products, and am growing my own herbs. I don't use fertilizers or pesticides on my lawns, just its own mulch. For my commute to work I usually hitch a car ride with my dad for about 5 minutes and then take public transportation. For water, I refill a reusable water bottle. I like to reuse bags (the PET recycled bags) for groceries and errands.
