Thumbs up books for netbookers

I just went downtown to my favorite book store and came home with a couple of bags of books. Are you a reader? Here's my list.

Susan Arnout Smith: Out at Night; John LeCarre: Smiley's People; Len Deighton: Funeral in Berlin; Daniel Silva: Moscow Rules; Alex Dryden: Red to Black; John Grisham: The Associate; Jesse Kellerman: The Brutal Art; Jonathan Kellerman: Compulsion; Jonathan Kellerman: Bones; David Baldacci: Divine Justice

My wife just made a couple loaves of banana bread, a pot of coffee and turned on the AC. I have to force myself to sit down and hit the books.

Any books in sight of your netbook?

I made banana bred once with nuts...it came out really good. I should try again!

This summer I just finished re-reading the Harry Potter Series and now I am trying to re-read the Lord OF THE Rings. My other favorite series is the Hitchhikers's Guide to the Galaxy.

I plan to read the hobbit as soon as I actually buy it.

Books...a dangerous question to ask an academic.

Okay, just bought Anton Strout's Deader Still, sequel to his Dead to Me.

Just finished Simon Green's The Spy Who Haunted Me, (3rd in his Shamus Bond series), also Jim Butcher's Turn Coat (Dresden Files--I'm big on the "Urban Fantasy" thing right now).

For work, I am reading 34 Days, an account of the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah War, and also Jon Sumida's Decoding Clausewitz. I've yet to finish the US Civil War history Battle Cry of Freedom.

For research, I'm reading Alpaslan Ozerdem's Post-Conflict Reconstruction: Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration. My book on the same subject will hopefully be finished in early 2011. At least, my contract says so

Oh yeah, I'm slowly finishing How to Reassess Your Chess and reading the "Bible" of Poker, Doyle Brunson's Super System.
