Smile vacation plans

Money's tight. The job might not be there when you get back. Even a short vacation will draw down your money reserves.

What are your vacation plans? Cars? Planes? Boats?

Cape Cod for about a week. Rents are great this year and we got a place for about $800...which is a full-house, not a cottage, completely furnished with 50" plasma, gigantic back deck, bbq grill, etc.

We will just hit the beaches, mini golf, lots of seafood, and that's probably it.

Now that it rained for the entire month of June, literally, it's time to make up for the lost month and hopefully grab a day off here and there in August and enjoy the sun.

Vacation is okay as long as there is a job.

I went on "vacation" this past weekend. I was able to get off of work early on Friday. I ended up driving 3 hours up to Albuquerque, NM to arrive just in time for dinner at a Brazilian restaurant with a couple friends. We stayed the night in a Native American casino (Isleta Casino and Resort) and slept in until 11:00 AM (yes, that is sleeping in whenever we have to get up at 6:00 AM every work day). We went to the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival. It started at 1:00 PM and didn't end until 11:25 PM later that night. All sorts of bands played. Whitechapel, Job For A Cowboy, God Forbid, Behemoth, Cannibal Corpse, Trivium, All That Remains, Bullet For My Valentine (I didn't care for them), Killswitch Engage, Slayer, and Marilyn Manson were the ones who played that day (there were a couple other bands but I don't remember them). A great festival that represents everything Ozzfest should have been this year (this is the first summer in 10 years that there hasn't been an Ozzfest).

We drove back home later that night and arrived at 3:00 AM. That was my 2 day vacation. I will have one week off from the 10th to 14th of August. I don't plan on doing anything during my break. I will mow the lawn, water the lawn, clean the house, and finish my laundry before then. I just want to sit on my butt and play video games (I finished the Ghostbusters game on my Xbox 360 but I have yet to play Infamous for the PS3 and Wii Sports Resort is on its way).

Next time I'll try Isleta Casino and Resort. Food, music and a spa. What's not to like? Oh, losing money at the casino is a bummer.

We just got back from a 7 night Mexican Riviera cruise on the Royal Caribbean Mariner of the Seas. Had a great time.

Cruise prices are amazingly low this summer.

Got another scheduled to the Caribbean over Thanksgiving week. That one's a bit more expensive.

I usually just take long weekends and go visit places for the day since i live in Ct i'll usually take the train to NYC for the day or go for a ride to Boston I have family and Friends on Fire depts in both cities that i'll visit and hang around with.

Being a firefighter i work a great rotation where i get 3-4 days off at a shot if my kelly day lines up.

in a few weeks i'm headed down south for 4 days to visit family in NC so thats kind of a vacation
