Default Sony announces VAIO W netbook – finally uses the term netbook

Sony's technically had a netbook available since it released the Vaio P but instead sold it at ridiculously high prices compared to it's weak specs. It looks expensive and seems to have a good build quality. If the price is in the $500 range, I just might bite. However a 3 cell battery is a huge no-no!

Sony still hasn't learned that they can't charge a premium for the Sony name. The Vaio P was priced way too high, the PSP Go! is $50 too high, and now this. Everyone is offering the standard N270/280-GMA 950 configuration. It is a shame that Sony is charging $500 for a three-cell version of their netbook. This netbook doesn't offer anything above the competition. Hell, you can even purchase HP's 110XP netbook for $70 less and it will come with a Broadcom chip for playing back 1080p video content. Boo Sony! They will just never learn that they can't charge $900 for a not-a-netbook netbook, $250 for a portable gaming device, or $500 for a three-cell battery netbook in this time.
