Default Looks good.

Nice price, but it seems to me that if one doesn't need added performance and prefers battery life, the Acer AO532h is rated for 10 hours, compared to the 8 hours on this dual-core model.

Amazing how Acer keeps the prices down on upgrades.

Default dual core software

What software can take advantage of the dual core configuration? How does dual core help the basics of browsing and email? What does the IG 3150 do for browsing and email?

I like the 2.8lb weight and the dual core CPU if it provides any benefit.

I don't like having to buy a new RAM module and tossing the 1GB. I wouldn't want to buy a new $50 W7 upgrade if Starter limited me.

I use a SSD on my Asus 1000HE and don't need the extra storage since the computer is managed with the desktop anyway but this Acer looks attractive and is a good price. I'd like to try the keyboard and trackpad at the store to see how I like them.

Acer is a good brand. Oops, just noticed USA shipping only. That may mean USA warranty only too.

There are plenty of programs that take advantage of dual-core processors. Even basic programs for e-mail access (though most people just stick with their browsers, dedicated e-mail programs are so 2000) and Internet browsing have an advantage as they cun run at the same time without hitting a hitch.

Dual-core (and more) processing is the future of personal computing. The market started to shift in 2002 and is pretty much done. The only last things were the Atom line and ARM chips. Intelnwill start offering dual-core Atom chips, by default, in the next year and ARM chips will make the jump to dual-core next year.
