Stores across the U.S. started selling Windows 7 powered computers yesterday. Best Buy started selling higher end notebooks, mid-line notebooks, and netbooks (HP and Dell) with Windows 7. Too bad they insist on loading Windows 7 Starter on netbooks. At least HP is offering the Mini 311 with Windows 7 Home Premium but it is a $50 upgrade. Might as well get it with Windows XP and then buy Winodws 7 Home Premium for $30 from Microsoft's student store.
My guess is that we won't start seeing "proper" (as in no crappy Windows 7 Starter) configurations of Windows 7 on netbooks until year's end. Manufacturer's want to throw Windows 7 Starter on netbooks. I don't understand it as most netbooks can run 7 Premium without issues. Any netbook running an Atom A520 processor and above will run Windows 7 Home Premium just fine. No need to install 7 Starter.
