Default No new Asus or Acer netbooks until 2010, we pause in disbelief

Yes, it's true folks. In a stunning move there will be no new Asus or Acer netbooks released until next year! According to Digitimes both companies are holding off until Intel's new Pineview chipset becomes available in the first quarter of 2010. So this report may not be completely true but Digitimes is usually pretty [...]

Smile now or new

It's just business. Makers want to milk the current brisk sales of the 270/280 with the current chipset. When new comes out, all of us old users will want to upgrade. However, it's not going to be that much of an advantage. If you can wait six months, do so, but the 1000HE is the pick of the litter right now at a good price.

In the meantime, Chris, you will have to innovate reviews based on creative netbookery with current computers. There are easy mods and utility/apps that make netbooking better to discuss. I think there is a lot more to cover about how to take care of your netbook and how to use SSD in the netbook.

This morning, Acer announced than an Android powered netbook is still going to come out in Q3 of this year. That must have been one of the computers that was in development for a while.

Intel also said that the new Pineview netbook platform is still on schedule to be released later this year. I think the actions of both Acer and Asus speak louder than Intel (who keeps pushing back Pineview's release).
