Default Hello

Hihi everyone, I own what I believe to be the first generation Asus Eeepc, Linux OS. I've been thinking of buying another netbook either as a replacement or as a supplement...something around $300(US) or less...was thinking of the MSI Wind but I actually haven't done extensive research yet. I just want to use a netbook for my usual usage like internet, music, photos. Love netbooks because they're so small and portable.

Hello and welcome to the forums. Netbookreviews is an excellent source for reviews and user opinions regarding netbooks.

I suggest that you may want to increase your budget by just a little bit. You can find an Asus Eee PC 1005HA from Amazon.com for $350. It will literally last all day (9.5 hours) on a single charge, this is for real world usage as well. The MSI Wind is a decent little netbook but it is rather old. That isn't necessarily bad as the majority of netbooks out there are still packing the same hardware as an older Wind. However, slightly increasing your budget will allow you to get a more modern model.

Welcome to the forums though. Feel free to continue posting so that you can get your questions answered.

Welcome Florence. The pick of the litter for me is the ASUS 1000HE. Good keyboard for internet typing tasks, good speakers for music and a robust matte screen for photos. Prices are dropping right now so unless you are willing to wait for newer developments next year, go for it.

Hi Florence, welcome to the forum.

Now I'm no longer the new kid.

I agree on the 1000HE, it is a GREAT netbook and I really enjoy mine. Looks like you are a Linux person, so you'll want to go get Eeebuntu after purchasing unless you want to keep the XP installation that comes with it.

There aren't many that come with Linux, if you do want a Linux out-of-the box experience get a Dell, HP, or System 76
