Question HP 110 with Itunes... CD drive..?

Hi, I'm new to this forum....

Hope someone can help

does anyone have itunes on their netbook?
If yes do you have a portable disk drive?

So far we have only bough through itunes...so we didn't really think about CD's tbh, and now have a Christmas CD we really want to add on. We do have an old PC with itunes on it, which I have uploaded the music to, but now not sure how I can transfer from that to my USB key to upload to the netbook...??!! Does this make sense, can anyone help?

Planty

You essentially have two options:
1. Buy an external DVD burner for $40 and hook that up to the netbook.
2. Use the old computer to rip the CD and copy it over with a thumb drive.

Both options are relatively painless, it just depends on how much you want to use your netbook for this process or if you will be fine with using the older computer every single time you have a CD you want to rip.

I can help you rip the CD and copy the files over from the older computer. Just let me know what part of the process is confusing you as it is pretty straight forward.

Thank you so much!!!

We are happy to stick with using the old computer for the moment, I have uploaded the CD to itunes on the old machine and then I get stuck, I need it to copy to a USB key to put on the netbook but I can't figure it out. All it has is burn to a disk....

I did also copy the songs to the C drive and try and load to the USB Key but they all show only 1KB, which can't be right....

Any help appreciated

OK. In iTunes, you will have to actually rip the audio CD. So pop the CD in your computer's drive, open up iTunes, make sure the CD is selected in the pane on the left, then click on the Import button on the bottom right corner. That will rip the CD to the computer's hard drive.

Plug your thumb drive in after the ripping process is done and, if anything pops up, select the Explore option. Go back to iTunes, make sure the Music option is selected in the left pane under Library, right-click on a single song from one album, and left-click on Show In Windows Explorer. This will bring up another window showing you where the songs were ripped. Highlight all the songs, copy them (right-click and select copy or hold the cntrl button and c key both at the same time), go to the window that is exploring your thumb drive (or open up My Computer and double-click on the icon that represents your thumb drive), right-click in any empty space, and left-click on paste. That will then copy the ripped files to your thumb drive so that they can be later copied to your netbook.

Remember that location where iTunes ripped the files to as it will ALWAYS use that main location. iTunes likes creating sub-folders when organizing music. You will ALWAYS have one parent folder housing different sub-folder for each artist. Each artist will have different sub-folder for each album. You will find the music files in the sub-folder for the albums.
