Are there Linux applications out there that can use the hardware accelerated decoding offered by the ION platform? To me, it would be pointless to go with an OS that wouldn't allow for full 1080p video playback on a netbook that was designed for HD video playback.

The ION platform also offers an increase in video encoding. Are their Linux applications that can use the ION for encoding?

Default Mini 311 1000SO

I have the Mini 311 1000SO, and it has a bay for a sim card, but I can't make win 7 find the card. I have installed drivers and software utility. it is as if only the bay is installed, but not the connection to the motherboard.
What can I do?
Tnx

I have several netbooks, but the HP311 Mini outshines them all with its HD playback due to the nvidea ion and, high resolution (720p+) screen. The keyboard is fine, and the battery life is excellent. The battery does not protrude from the bottom as other long life batteries do, so it is really thin. It is trivial to upgrade both the memory and HD, so mine has 3GB and a 500GB 7200rpm drive which makes it faster than many notebooks. I really like it.
