Qatar holds great memories for Bjorn

Denmark\'s Thomas Bjorn will have some great memories to back him when he tees off at the DohaTaylorMade R11 Irons
Club on Thursday in the Commercialbank Qatar Masters.
It was here, after all, where, exactly a year ago, he would finally came in from a long spell out in the cold of invisibility with a going-away 4-stroke win that would spark his greatest season ever on the European Tour and bring him two more victories. TaylorMade R11 Irons
Looking back he should remember how he recovered from a miserable 74 to fire three stunning rounds of 65, 66 and 69 for a 14 under par total of 274 that enabled him to beat the big-hitting Spaniard Alvaro Quiros into second place.
The seasoned Dane showed his thrilling run in Qatar was no fluke when he went on to win the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles and the Omega European Masters in consecutive weeks before finishing ninth in The Race to Dubai.
It was his first Top 10 finish and his best since 2003 when he finished eighth in the European Tour\'s order of merit standings

coming down the stretch last year was excellent and it laid a lot of the groundwork for what I did the rest of the year. It definitely changed my mental attitude.
\"In the past I found it very difficult to get into positions and then winTaylorMade R11 Irons
tournaments, but in Qatar I suddenly realised that when I do get into such positions, I am quite capable of getting over the line.
\"I think that was a big difference, and I saw it again in Scotland and in Switzerland; that when I\'m there on a Sunday I can, at times, be very difficult to beat.
\"I\'ve said before that if there was one downside of last season, it was that the consistency was not there for me. There was a little bit too much poor play but, balancing that up, the great stuff was really good. That\'s what you\'ve got to take and then you can build into a new season, and I\'m looking forward to this season as I feel myTaylorMade R11 Irons
is in a better place than it\'s probably been for a while.\"
Bjorn proved that last week with a solid showing in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship where he finished in a tie for third spot, only two shots adrift of champion Robert Rock and tied with Tiger Woods.
The Dane says that he will have to show similar resilience at Doha Golf Club where the ever-present shamal winds make playing TaylorMade R11 Irons
there pretty hazardous and when they really get up, sometimes close to unbearable
\"The wind in Qatar can make for very tough days out on the course. On those occasions you take a par, and then just try and roll in a few here and there for birdie if you get the chance.

on courses like Doha and Abu Dhabi and Dubai. They\'ve got great history on our Tour, and that\'s what you want. This is a fantastic swing for us on three magnificent golf courses.\"
Bjorn will be joined in Doha by a high quality field which is headlined by the World\'s Nos 3 and 4 respectively, England\'s Lee Westwood and Germany\'s Martin Kaymer.
Also in the field with Bjorn will be last year\'s Qatar runner-up, Quiros and Sweden\'s Robert Karlsson, the two Qatar champions who preceded Bjorn, as well as South Korea\'s KJ Choi and Hunter Mahan of the United States.
