Despite rallying to make the cut, Lee Westwood could be forced to pull out of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship.
Westwood is suffering from a painful neck injury that very nearly sent him packing in Abu Dhabi after he bogeyed three of his first five holes.
Despite his obvious discomfort, Westwood rallied to card five birdies and only two more bogeys as he finished on level par and secured his
Left Handed Ping G20 Irons in the third round.
\"I\'ve had it for about a month,\" Westwood said of his injury, \"but this is the first time I\'ve played three days in a row since.\"
\"My neck locked up some time over Christmas and the pain goes down into my shoulder and then into the elbow, and it feels like somebody is driving a needle in there.
\"I struggled to support the
Left Handed Ping G20 Irons on the backswing and didn\'t feel I could deliver the right amount of power. I didn\'t have commitment going through the ball so I\'ll get it worked on to try and free it up.\"
When asked if he considered withdrawing during the round, he replied: \"If I had hit it regularly in the long rough on my back nine I would have struggled and I might have had to think about it.(

\"But fortunately I didn\'t. I hit it off line a couple of times but it went in the desert and that\'s not quite so bad.\"
