Acer 751h versus Gateway LT31 I Have Both
I think that providing you do the right things, the 751h is a good netbbok. But you have to do the right things. You need to install the latest bios, latest video drivers, 2 gigs of RAM, and Windows 7. With all of those things done, you can get decent performance and 3 hour battery life with a 3-cell battery. It is not built that well, and the keyboard bounces. That is very annoying if you are a 2-finger typist.
Now I bought the Gateway LT31 with Windows XP on it, 1 gig RAM, a 160gb hdd, and I love it. The processor rocks, considering thais is a netbook. The LT31 uses the same keyboard as on the 751h but for some reason, the chassis is much stiffer, so very little keyboard bounce. The ATI 1250 chipset is MUCH better than the GMA500 on the Acer. Battery life on the 3-cell that came with it is not great .... just a hair over 2 hours. I haven't really tested the hd video. The screen is identical. The 751h has a better camera. Who cares?
All in all the Acer 751h is a mistake that you can salvage with some time and patience. The Gateway LT31 provides a great netbook experience at a modest price. Ok. It is a bargain.
