Default Gateway 27 series

I wanted to install the max 2gig in my new Gateway/Acer netbook but all I get is a black screen. What do I need to do for the netbook to accept the new upgraded memory. Any help is appreciated.

First off, you need to make sure that the RAM is compatible with your system. A completely black screen means that the BIOS is not booting. That leads me to believe that the RAM you have isn't compatible with your netbook.

Can you please be more specific? Exactly what model computer? Exactly what specs are the ram chips you installed? What does your computer manual state you can stick in for chips? Etc.

Thanks.

Every time I unplug my laptop, either from the outlet or from the piece attached to the laptop, it IMMEDIATELY shuts down. The screen turns black, the power goes off, and everything acts as if it has just died.
