Question Asus 1005PE and Buying a accessory kit

Hello. I am planning on buying an Asus 1005PE, and I was thinking of purchasing the Kensington Essentials Kit. The sleeve may fit but I am not sure. I don't know if this kit (K66619EU) contains the sp9 or sp7, of which the latter is smaller. So what's the way to go? There is a Targus kit, but having the sleeve at my jobsite it's not as thick as the other may be. Also, I could use tips on how to best set up my netbook once I get it. Thank you.

Default netbook setup depends on the use

Asus provides a sleeve. What's wrong with using it?

I bought a used Sony sleeve from the bargain bin for 10 cents. Don't use a mouse or a lock.

Setup depends on what what use you have for the netbook and where you go. My number one rule is if I absolutely must have a computer where I go I take two. I find it easier to buy shirts and underwear anywhere I go than buying computer accessories so I take a few extra computer accessories and plan on buying some clothes.

Hardware setup: I carry my netbook in my ten cent sleeve. When traveling, I take the power unit. Because I often share back and forth with others I use a Lowepro SD card case for computer and camera plus mini and micro and SD/USB adaptors and a couple of USB flash drives like Lexar Jump (USB slots are often too tight together but the Lexar is slim), Kensington DT mini slim along with a short extension cable because I have several SanDisk USB drives and they are a little too wide for many USB slot setups. I have a short ethernet cable.

Software setup: One SD card holds a Linux distro. In the netbook I load Adobe Reader, VLC, Opera/Chrome, and, if I know I will need them, MS Powerpoint viewer and/or Open Office. I carry movies on one SD card and music on another.

I often carry an iPod Touch with earphones and a short dock connector.

I carry a camera when traveling. That needs a charger and uses one or more SD cards. It needs a strap and case. I sometimes carry a gorilla pod.

I carry a noise canceling headphone for the airplane or private listening.

How do you plan on using your netbook? What sort of tasks do you anticipate? Where will you be using your netbook? My number two rule is if I can't make my gear work at home I won't get it to work on the road. I try it out and keep together the items I need.

Be sure and post back. HTH

Well friend, first I want to thank you for responding. My primary uses for the netbook is to do some journaling whether I'm in town or out, upload images from my dslr, listen to music from time to time, get online at some hotspots and/or library until I can buy some prepaid broadband setup. From time to time I'll also take it to work. As for the sleeve, I didn't know if it would be sufficient to protect it. I anticipate doing some minor photo editing using some free app. That's pretty much it. As for iTunes music I have, it not a whole lot. THank you.

Default netbook setup

journaling - check out the keyboard to make sure it is satisfactory for you

sleeve - my Asus is tough so a sleeve works for me; I probably wouldn't feel that way about something like the iPad which appears to be fragile; I keep my netbook in a briefcase and it seems fine

the rest of your tasks seem well within the range of netbooks
