Thumbs up Asus EEE Transformer

Hey,i wanted to ask couple of questions about the Asus EEE Transformer:

im planing buying Asus EEE Transformer and i wanted to know if i can download movies and music via the tablet it self, and not syncing with the cloud system with an other computer?

do you think that the cloud system is enough or should i take the 32gig version?
there is an option to take the 16gig version and expand it later to 32gig?

another question,if i hook up a printer using usb, will it print even if there is not any printer driver installed(i dont think that hp got android driver)?

thank you and i will appreciate if you will tell me your opinion about this tablet-laptop.

thanks in advance,appreciate it.

Yes, you can download files directly through Android 3.0 for playback on the Eee Pad Transformer. You don't have to sync it with a computer (unlike the iPad). Whether or not the videos can natively be played back is another question as you might need to download additional apps to playback the video content. Either way, you can still download the videos just fine using Android 3.0's internet browser.

The only negative aspect regarding cloud storage is that, in order for you to use it, you must be connected to the internet. That is problematic as you will need to rely on wi-fi for your internet. So you will have to ask yourself if you can live without some of your content while you are out and about since you will likely run into a few places that still aren't offering free wi-fi. The Eee Pad Transformer comes with a microSD card slot so you could always buy the 16GB model and slap in a 32GB microSDHC card (about $50). Better yet, you could buy the 32GB Transformer and put a 32GB card in it giving you 64GB of total storage.

USB printing through Android (at least Android 2.3.3, I don't know about Android 3.1 which is what the Eee Pad Transformer runs) requires specific support in the apps. In other words, you can just plug in a printer and have it automatically work. So, if you want to print a picture, you will need a specific app that supports USB printing. Want to print out an e-mail? You will need to use an e-mail app that supports USB printing. It isn't a function built into the OS like with Windows. You don't install printer drivers and have them work across all apps. The apps themselves need to specifically support USB printing.

From what I have read, this is the best non-iPad 2 tablet on the market. The iPad 2 is still a better all around tablet mainly because iOS 4 is more stable than Android 3.0, it currently has more features (iOS 4 can print via wi-fi, it can stream audio/video content to other Apple devices and even non-Apple computers), it has a lot more apps for it, and the apps made for the iPad/iPad 2 tend to be higher quality than Android 3.0 apps. For example, the Conan O'Brian app for Android 3.0 is garbage. They took the smartphone version of the app and just upscaled it to a higher resolution. 3/4 of the display is gray because they didn't upscale it correctly, the app crashes most of the time, a performance is sluggish. The iOS version is smooth, works nicely without any hitches, and it was properly developed for the iPad's larger higher resolution display.

So, if you really, really, really can't get an iPad 2, go with the Eee Pad Transformer. Otherwise you would be better off with an iPad 2 (there is a reason why Apple sells millions of these on a monthly basis whereas competitors are barely breaking the million mark).
