Default screwy cursor

The cursor on my ASUS (now the name seems kind of odd) has a life of its own. I'll be moving it up and down, using the two-finger method, or not doing anything, and it will just jump around and select whatever it happens to touch. I've tried changing the mouse settings, but nothing works.

Anybody else have this problem?

I had this issue on an old notebook in one of my labs (and I am still using that computer). There are some things you can try though your mileage may vary if they actually work or not. First I would make sure that it is the actual trackpad and not something else on your computer. Disable the trackpad and use an external mouse for a while and see if the problem replicates itself. Hopefully it doesn't.

You can completely uninstall and re-install the drivers for the trackpad if that happens to be the problem. I would also see if someone has made better 3rd party drivers than what Asus is offering. Additionally, you can reformat your system as a last ditch effort and see if that solve the issue. Otherwise you are looking at a hardware problem that could be anything from a simple connection issue or something deeper involving your motherboard and/or the trackpad itself.

i think i found the answer to my own question. i went to the control panel, clicked on the small icons, and in the middle of the screen is an icon "Multi-finger." When you click on that you get several icons that tell you how to set up the multi-finger (who decides on these idiot names). One of the icons is for sensitivity. It was set on the highest setting. I reset it and it seemed to help.
