Smile Acer Aspire One D255E

Hey all, I just bought the Acer Aspire One D255E and was wondering what would be the best way to get peak performance out of it? Like what OS works best and any tweaks to increase battery life etc. I immediately removed Windows 7 Starter and installed Ubuntu 11.04 but other than that I haven't really changed anything. I would like to put OSX on it but have been unable to find anything saying it's compatible.

There isn't much you can do other than installing new RAM, that is about it in terms of increasing actual performance. Getting the most battery life (you can't ever increase it) comes at an immense cost of usability. You essentially have to use the display at a brightness of 50% or lower while making sure that both bluetooth and wi-fi are off. In fact, that is how most manufacturers obtain their battery life numbers. They don't represent real world operating conditions.

Default I have also removed Windows 7 starter, but have one problem!

I have also removed Windows 7 starter from my Acer Aspire One D255e, but still have one problem. It does not matter what linux distro I install, I still can not get the internal microphone to work. I have installed Ubuntu 10.04 and 11.04 with no luck, and a few other distros. I have tried a few tips that I came across on the web and still did not work. The only linux distro that worked was Puppy Linux 5.25. I really wanted to have a fully functional Ubuntu install on this machine but no luck. Anyone have any suggestions???? I know it is just some Alsa configuration or something!!!! Driving me crazy!!!
