Anyone review Acer AOD250-1165?
With help from me and very little to choose from at Staples today, my dad bought the Acer Aspire One AOD250-1165 for $299 at Staples.
Has anyone reviewed this?
After using it for a few hours, my preliminary thoughts are (in no particular order):
1)Wow...great price!
2)soooooo light...very sleek if you ask me
3)about 1" wider than my Dell Mini 9 which allows for a better and bigger keyboard.
4)Touchpad is a bit small...and I've never been a touchpad fan
5)Touchpad buttons is 1 single button...kinda weird but it works
6)Display is very nice...bright too if you need it...we used it in the blaring sun today
7)The CPU (N270) seems a bit slow (for buying a machine in mid July 2009)
8)The battery is rated at 3+ hours...I don't know if that is "sitting in the corner and not using it" or "actively using it to surf" for 3 hours. Big difference. I did not get a chance to test
9)Seems to be a bit of crapware installed...MS Office trialware, McAfee, etc. I will have to spend some time and nuke some of that stuff. I'm not sure if McAfee is going to suck the life out of the CPU but McAfee definitely is slllllloooooowwwww opening and modifying changes.
10)3 USB ports, VGA output, headphone out, 160GB 5400RPM drive,
With tax this is $317...he has 14 days to unconditionally return it...if he chooses, he would buy the new Asus that is CURRENTLY $349 at Amazon.
If someone has a chance to review this Acer, I would greatly appreciate it. And, if you have feedback such as you tried it and it stunk, please reply.
Thanks!
-Eric
