[...] The Lenovo IdeaPad S12 ION has a 6 cell battery that provides a lower than netbook average battery life at about 4.5 hours under normal usage. This is to be expected though as 12 inch netbooks already tend to trend to towards a lower battery life than their 10 inch brothers. You also have to consider the Nvidia ION chipset which draws down on the battery life as well. I ran battery eater pro under 1280 x 800 32 bit settings with full screen mode on and was able to get 4 hours. Battery Eater Pro isn't the best way to test batteries as no one will ever be taxing their computer non stop the entire time, but it helps to provide a decent idea. If you need a machine with better battery life and don't need all of the multimedia capabilities, I suggest you look at the Asus Eee PC 1005HA. [...]

The 1005ha seems to be an excellent little machine. Mine came with Windows 7 Starter and a 250gb HD so I expect that is the new normal. W7 is excellent and it runs Office 07, Photoshop, MS Expression etc without a hitch. Battery life is phenomenal -- got 8+ hours with heavy constant HD and wireless use doing installs and updates.

Very pleased -- I highly recommend it.

Hey Frank,

I looked at the Amazon reviews and it looks like over 80% of them are 4 and 5 star reviews but I do see some negative ones on there as well.

You have considered the possibility that you are in the minority though right? Unfortunately there can be issues with some netbooks, whether or not there are more issues with the 1005HA is difficult to ascertain based on a small sampling of user reviews. Generally people have a strong reason to comment if something doesn't work for them as expected and satisfied customers don't need to discuss their purchase as it works as expected.

With that said, I agree it does suck if your netbook doesn't work. Anyone else having a similar experience? How well did the customer support work?

"The Asus Eee PC 1005HA is one of the best netbooks out on the market right now."

As one of the many owners of the 1005HA who is currently unable to use my brand new netbook due to the defective ac adapter and battery problems that appear to be effecting this product, I would have to disagree with your assessment. It worked for exactly 2 days before the ac adapter stopped charging. Its now been three weeks since I opened my RMA request and customer service still can't tell me when a replacement ac adapter will be available. Its unfortunate that a product that seems to hold so much promise could lack so much in the way of quality control and customer service. Have a look at the reviews on newegg or amazon if you'd like to see for yourself.
