As reported late last week the Asus Eee PC 1005HA was available for pre-order on Amazon.com for $349.99. Then a few days later it was removed from Amazon and now it's back up on Amazon (in black and blue). The picture is only showing for the black model but the price is showing at $389.99 with free shipping

I was looking for my first Netbook this weekend and ended up buying a 1005HB at BestBuy. The employees didn’t seem to know much about it, and it was the only one in stock, but I grabbed it anyway thinking I’d return it if I didn’t end up liking it. So far so good! It’s suppoesedly blue, but it looks black to me… I had no idea this model was hard to get right now.
I believe Best Buy receives different model netbooks with occasionally different specs.
What are the specs on your unit? Also are you located in the US as well?

It’s the same as the specs you listed for the one on Amazon, but without the free sleeve. The screen is incredibly bright. I really like it so far. Just getting used to a smaller keyboard is going to take some time. That, and the responsive touchpad…
I’m in the US, and paid about 60.00 less than the price at Amazon.
Do you have a 3 cell battery or 6 cell battery though? I’m near certain that is where the difference is.
It’s a 6 cell. I have read that it will stay charged anywhere from 5 to 8 hours (depending on what the settings are and what you have running). I have it fully charged and have had it on surfing the web/reading reviews/emailing/etc for nearly 3 hours, and have 63% of the battery time remaining. I think it’s going to last a pretty long while!
I really like that you can remove and replace (upgrade) the battery if you find it’s not enough for your use.
Hmmm, I’m so confused. There has to be something different because even the model you named off is different than the HA.
Best Buy has IN STOCK NOW the model 1005HAB-BLU001X. It’s very dark blue (almost black), has the 270 chip, NO Bluetooth, and a 3-cell battery (good for 3 to 4 hours). The best part: it weighs only 2.4 pounds . . . that’s a meaningful difference from the big battery models that weigh 2.8 to 3.2 pounds. And the price is right: $300 + tax at your local BB store. And soon BB will get model 1005HAB-WHI001X (white) . . . I’m waiting for that one. BTW, this model has a 1.3mp camera (some versions have only .3mp . . . not so good).
If you don’t need Bluetooth or a big battery or the 280 chip, this is the model to get!

The 1005HA-V features a six cell battery (up to 8.5hrs), a 0.3mp webcam with digital array microphones, no bluetooth, wireless 802.11 b/g/n, 1024×600 screen resolution, 92% keyboard size, etc. as described on amazon for around $349.99 The 1005HA-V is the average model.
The 1005HA-B features a six cell battery (up to 4.5hrs), a 0.3mp webcam with digital array microphones, no bluetooth, wireless 802.11 b/g/n, 1024×600 screen resolution, 92% keyboard size, etc. as described by Best Buy for around $298. Now, when you buy online you don’t have to pay taxes. But when you buy at a store, generally you pay taxes.
So for me, I chose to get the 1005HA-V because $298 after tax = $320.35. I might as well get the 1005HA-V. But if u watch the prices on amazon closely, you may be able to snag the 1005HA-P for around $349.99. That’s when I got mine. I was about to order the 1005HA-V when I notice the price for the 1005HA-P was just $10 more = I got the 1005HA-P. And its on its way. All I can say is ^_^.
