    Acer Aspire AOD250-1613 Dual Boots Windows XP and Android available now

    The Acer Aspire AOD250-1613 is the first netbook that provides a dual boot option to Windows XP and the Android operating system. For many Android has long been anticipated and it's nice to see it available as a dual boot option. This way you have the option of trying out Android and if you don't like it, I'm sure you can just delete the partition on the hard drive. The netbook is available at Amazon for $349.99 and is shipping now.

    Here is a list of the full specs. Everything is typical except for the dual boot operating system of course:

    Full Specs

    * 1024MB DDR2 SDRAM Single Channel Memory
    * 160GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM), 802.11b/g Wireless
    * 10.1" WSVGA Acer CrystalBrite LED Display, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950
    * Dual Boot Operating Systems: Android or Windows XP Home, 6-cell Li-ion Battery (5800 mAh)
    * Size (LWH): 8.04 inches, 10.17 inches, 1 inches
    * Weight: 2.79 pounds
    * Wireless Type: 802.11B

    Is it worth buying a netbook with the Android operating system as a boot option? Like I mentioned in a previous post about the pink Samsung N130, I personally wish netbook manufacturers would just hold off on releasing netbooks before Windows 7 launches. Sure you can upgrade most of these netbooks to Windows 7 for free, but it's nice to just have it arrive already upgraded.

    What do you think? In either case, feel free to pick up the netbook for $349.99 if the thought of using Android tickles your fancy.
